Pourable Iced Coffee

Usually, I make iced coffee by brewing a cup of whatever is the strongest flavor I've got on hand in my Keurig brewer.  Then I pour it over ice and add sweetener and milk or cream.  All in all, it's not that convenient of a process.  The ice melts so quickly that it dilutes the coffee.  Plus I can never seem to get just the right blend of milk, coffee, and sweetener.  Sometimes I end up driving through a fast food joint and paying $3 for it, because that's easier.

But wait! It seems there's a new product that might change that for me...

Yesterday, my husband surprised me by bringing home a carton of the new International Delight Iced Coffee from the grocery store.  I had a coupon from VocalPoint that he used (get yours here!).  I tried it right away, since I love iced coffee, and we are having the perfect weather for it (HOT!).  I poured a glass right out of the carton over some ice.  Without adding anything, it tasted just right - the milk and sugar are built right in, in what seems to be just the right blend.

This product certainly makes having iced coffee at home more convenient.  Compared to driving to Starbucks or Dunkin' Donuts for iced coffee, it's also cheaper per glass.  It's not cheaper than making your own iced coffee with your own coffee, milk, and sugar, but the convenience factor outweighs that for me.  According to the ingredients, this Iced Coffee is made with skim milk.  I usually use soy, so I do wish that was a choice, but I was happy to see that they used fat-free milk and I don't have to worry about absent-mindedly adding extra fat to my diet.

I have only tried the regular flavor, since that's what hubby brought home.  I will certainly try out the vanilla and mocha when I buy it again.  I wish they had more flavors, but maybe they will be forthcoming?  Other things I'm not so sure about: some of the coffee makes kind of a slushiness when combined with ice.  This kind of freaked me out when I first saw it.  On the other hand, this made me think of mixing the Iced Coffee with ice in a blender to make something like a Frappucino.  Now, that would certainly be cheaper, since those drinks are expensive!  Perhaps that will be my next post.

Baby Registry!

The reason I've been neglecting this blog for so long is ... I'm pregnant!  Yes, I went through a few months of not feeling well, and not feeling motivated to do much except lie on the couch.  Then I went through a phase of reading a bunch of those pregnancy books.

Then for the last several weeks, I've been researching and registering.  Since this is our first baby, I have a few generous friends and family members who have offered to host baby showers.  "Where are you registered?" seems to be about the third question, after "When are you due?" (8/25/12) and "Do you know if it's a boy or a girl?" (yes, girl!).  So I decided I needed to spend some time figuring out what to register for.  My husband and I are astounded by how much STUFF there is that a baby needs!  We think we are being fairly low-key with what we need, but still - it's a lot!

Of course, because I want to choose the best items for my baby, I've been reading hundreds of Amazon reviews, as well as the book Baby Bargains by Denise and Alan Fields, to help with my decisions.  So, instead of writing my own reviews on new products I've tried, I've been busy reading others' ideas instead!  Yesterday I finished (I think) the massive list of stuff to register for, and will be writing my own product reviews again soon.  I look forward to writing about some of the baby products we use.  Stay tuned...

Iced Coffee Coupon

I have to make iced coffee by brewing just one little cup with my single Keurig brewer, then pouring it over ice.  It doesn't actually taste that good.  So I'm excited to try these new iced coffee options from International Delight.  Right now, you can visit http://www.vocalpoint.com/icedcoffee/ecard.aspx to send an ecard to a friend, and get a coupon for 75 cents off International Delight Iced Coffee.  I'll be back after I use my coupon to write more about how it tastes!

Enjoy!
