But wait! It seems there's a new product that might change that for me...
Yesterday, my husband surprised me by bringing home a carton of the new International Delight Iced Coffee from the grocery store. I had a coupon from VocalPoint that he used (get yours here!). I tried it right away, since I love iced coffee, and we are having the perfect weather for it (HOT!). I poured a glass right out of the carton over some ice. Without adding anything, it tasted just right - the milk and sugar are built right in, in what seems to be just the right blend.
This product certainly makes having iced coffee at home more convenient. Compared to driving to Starbucks or Dunkin' Donuts for iced coffee, it's also cheaper per glass. It's not cheaper than making your own iced coffee with your own coffee, milk, and sugar, but the convenience factor outweighs that for me. According to the ingredients, this Iced Coffee is made with skim milk. I usually use soy, so I do wish that was a choice, but I was happy to see that they used fat-free milk and I don't have to worry about absent-mindedly adding extra fat to my diet.
I have only tried the regular flavor, since that's what hubby brought home. I will certainly try out the vanilla and mocha when I buy it again. I wish they had more flavors, but maybe they will be forthcoming? Other things I'm not so sure about: some of the coffee makes kind of a slushiness when combined with ice. This kind of freaked me out when I first saw it. On the other hand, this made me think of mixing the Iced Coffee with ice in a blender to make something like a Frappucino. Now, that would certainly be cheaper, since those drinks are expensive! Perhaps that will be my next post.
